Macquarie 4 Star

My family and I had a nice overnight stay at Macquarie 4 Star. Great value for under $250 a night for a Silver Deluxe room with 2 x King Beds. The room was SUPER clean - clean sheets/bedding, new-ish towels (still fluffy!), and an abundance of toiletries and tea and coffee and cookies too. Decent bar fridge for chilled drinks. Foxtel, free parking, easy access and quiet location. Reception staff were exceptional! Professional, efficient and friendly. You can even join to be a member at the hotel reception to get discounted ‘members only’ rates at the Bistro that is attached to the hotel. We didn’t get a chance to try the Bistro or find the kids play area - next time. But overall we had a good night’s sleep and the facilities are well maintained. The only downside is that it is a solid 20 mins drive from Newcastle city centre. But it is a 2 minute drive away from Costco and Costco fuel! And across the road from Bunnings! Improvements is they could invest in block out blinds, as during summer when the sun goes down 8pm+ and with small kids, the curtains were of medium density so we could still see the light through the curtain so getting to sleep was just a tad challenging.

This place is cheap and can fit at least 4 people in a room. The beds are clean and the toilets offer soap and shampoo. There is a mini fridge to store what you need. It is a pretty standard hotel so it is pretty good. But from the bedroom you can see people showering and on the toilet. If this design didn’t exist then this motel would be 5 stars.
